Leadership Northeast is an educational leadership program presented by the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce. The program consists of nine sessions devoted to identifying and strengthening the leadership skills of participants and putting that knowledge into action in the Northeast Johnson County Communities.
Crucial skills will be fostered through various speakers, hands-on experiences, community involvement, meetings with key leaders in the community and working with fellow class members. Graduates of Leadership Northeast have gone on to serve in leadership capacities in their organizations, neighborhoods and in city and state government.

“I recently completed the Leadership Northeast education and can’t believe the changes in my understanding. I learned about my community from a city, county and state level. This has allowed me insight into the issues, obstacles and joys facing our community leaders. In fact, I knew more about the candidates and the issues in the last primary election than I have in the past 25 years that I have lived in Northeast Johnson County.”
Beth Bernier, Turning Point Home Solutions
“This program showed me the range of leadership qualities from a wide range of leaders in the various disciplines. The models of leadership seen throughout the program have helped me to see how to think about leadership in my work.”
Keith Krieger, Johnson County Community College
